Top Rated Recliners for Big and Tall Men Reviews
Stallion Comfort King Chaise Wallsaver Recliner
The first recliner for bigger man we’re looking at is called the “Stallion – Comfort King”. It comes from “Lane Furniture” which just happens to be one of the leading brands in the furniture industry. It’s not by chance that this model made it into my top 5 list – in fact, it might just be the best recliner for big and tall man.
The “Stallion” features a full-fabric construction. Even though most high-end recliners feature leather, or even mesh materials, this one is an exception, and rightly so, if I might add.
Namely, leather tends to “crack” under immense pressure, not to mention that it’s not one of the best long-shot options you’d want to consider. That’s where pure fabric design excels where others fail – this recliner is as durable as they make them, and it can support all the way up to five hundred pounds. For your information, that’s nearly twice as much as the industrial standard.
Now, the “Stallion” features a “Tall Back” design – that’s why it’s so good for taller people – it doesn’t however feature any form of lumbar support, excluding the cushioned seat. The seat of “Stallion” is significantly wider when compared to standard models, which is why it’s good for big men – these two combined make it one of the best recliners for big and tall men.
Furthermore, the “Comfort King” can fully recline into the length proportional to that of a standard-issue king-size mattress. You can even use it as a bed, should you need it.
Further on that note, the reclining position makes it more compact than an average bed – if you ever need to bring along your bed on your travels, it’s safe to assume that you’d have quite a job on your hands. Now, even though “Stallion” isn’t exactly lightweight, it’s certainly lighter than a regular bed, making it easier to transport back and forth.
There are several bad things about it, sadly. First of all, the seat cushion isn’t as durable as the rest of the construction. You can expect certain problems with it, and the worst-case scenario involves it splitting after a couple of months.
Secondly, even though this is not a regular flaw, per se, you might experience a peculiar form of odor. There’s no need for alarm, though, as most new furniture models have that “new smell” about them. It might linger for a while, but it will definitely disappear at some point.
Lastly, the “Stallion” is one of the most expensive recliners in our review. However, all things considered, it holds a substantial value for the money.
- One of the most comfortable recliners you’ll ever sit on.
- Tall back and wider seat.
- Full-recline position, extending to proportions of a regular king-size mattress.
- Can support up to five hundred pounds.
- Absolutely ideal for taller and bigger men.
- Full-fabric construction.
- Costs a fortune.
- Possible problems with seat cushion.
- New-furniture odor.
Flash Furniture Big & Tall 350 lb. Capacity Gazette Pewter Microfiber Recliner
Next up is another great model from Flash Furniture. The “Big & Tall” Gazette Pewter recliner is a marvellous piece of furniture that boasts an exemplary value for the cash. It features a superb supportive strength, a beautiful, contemporary design, and exquisite microfiber upholstery.
While it’s true what I said before – fabric is a bit more durable than leather, but it comes down short on comfortability when compared to microfiber. Namely, some of the best office chairs, as well as recliners feature this particular material, which is the reason why this model made it into the top picks of the best recliner for big and tall man.
Gazette Pewter microfiber isn’t the only option, though. You’ll be able to choose between two more, each being as beautiful and durable as the next.
The “Camoflaged” encore fabric style variation is the most innovative of the bunch, but it also costs the most. I highly recommend it, though, as it features a huge value, and it’s safe to say that it will bring about a refreshing shift of atmosphere to the room where you place it.
The “Basil microfiber”, on the other hand, looks plain and old-fashioned. It’s a bit dark for my taste, but you might like it better. The last style variation is the model we’re reviewing right now – Gazette Pewter Microfiber.
This recliner features 350 pounds of supportive strength – that’s why I’ve labelled it as one of the best recliners for big and tall men. It features beautiful microfiber upholstery and comfy upholstered arms. The pillow back resembles a conventional headrest which usually comes equipped on office chairs, which only boosts the overall comfortability.
Among other notable features, I’d like to point out the Dacron wrapped resiliency foam and CA117 fire-retardant foam. These two features greatly improve the durability of this chair, not to mention the fire-repelling properties which are always handy.
Atop the superb level of durability, this chair is also extremely easy to use (consider it’s a recliner, that’s quite rare, actually). Most recliners come with levers and plugs found on the weirdest places – some have levers all the way back, other models have to be literally tugged backwards, while there are models that require some manual labour in order to recline.
The easiness of use is just one of the characteristics that makes this one of the best recliners for bigger men. However, not everything is perfect about Flash Furniture’s “Big and Tall” gazette pewter microfiber chair.
First of all, the footrest is unimpressively stiff. People with reduced mobility (after undergoing a surgery, inherent illnesses, and such) might not be so pleased to hear that you’ll have to stand up in order to use the reclining features.
Secondly, this chair is huge. That might be good for bigger and taller people, but that also means that it will take up too much room. Apart from that, I failed to notice any other flaws.
All things considered, this is truly a remarkable recliner, and it’s safe to say that its benefits can easily outshine the small flaws it comes with. Needless to say, it holds a great value for the buck.
- Available in three style and colour variations.
- 350 pounds of supportive strength.
- Beautiful microfiber upholstery.
- Plush back and upholstered arms.
- Remarkably easy to use.
- Dacron wrapped resiliency foam and fire-repelling foam materials.
- Excellent value for the money.
- Takes up too much room.
- Not so good with people with hindered mobility.
Flash Furniture Brown Leather Rocker Recliner
This is the last model from “Flash Furniture” in this review, and I hope it’s obvious why I like this brand so much. Basically, this model resembles the last one we’ve seen in all aspects, except that it comes with a leader construction.
Just like the “Big & Tall”, this recliner features a contemporary design – it’s both a rocking and a reclining chair. This isn’t so rare, given that most recliners come with similar features, but it might be worthwhile mentioning.
Furthermore, the arms are fully upholstered and feature cushioned, exceptionally comfortable armrests. The seat is nearly as big as the one “Big & Tall” has, but it’s safe to say that it’s equally comfortable.
Leather lovers and enthusiasts will be thrilled to hear that this recliner comes with bustle back ultra-comfortable cushions. You’ll have a feeling that you’re being “swallowed” by it as you gently sink in to sleep.
The special “rocker” feature implies that you’ll be able to rock back and forth in this recliner for big and tall men. The leaver is located on the exact same spot as the one “Big & Tall recliner” comes equipped with – right beneath the right armrest.
Now, what makes this recliner special is the “LeatherSoft” construction. This hybrid material is a well-balanced mixture of premium-quality leather and high-grade polyurethane. This, however, means that this is not your ordinary, easy-to-crack leather.
It’s substantially more durable, and it’s softer than regular leather. Just like the previous model, the CA117 fire-retardant foam was added for extra safety.
On top of that, there are two colour variations for you to choose from. The brown is the model we’re looking at right now – it’s decently beautiful and it boasts the same feature outfit as the other colour variation – the elegant black.
Now, there are certain flaws you should be aware about concerning this recliner. First of all, it features a leather construction. Even though it’s supplied with LeatherSoft materials (softer and more durable than regular leather), it’s still leather we’re talking about.
Leather wears faster than fabric and mesh, and, even though this model is more durable than most leather recliners, it can’t compare to microfiber models. On the other hand, it’s not as easy to use as some models we’ve seen so far.
Nevertheless, this model does a major bang for the buck. It’s among the more affordable models I’ll review for you, but it certainly doesn’t come cheap.
- Available in two colour variations.
- Superbly comfortable.
- High-quality LeatherSoft construction.
- Fire-retardant foams.
- High value for the buck.
- Not as easy to use as most models in this review.
- The leather will wear after a while.
Lane Stallion Comfort King Recliner
Lane’s Stallion King recliner is a chair fit for a king, no doubt about that. It features a “Wall saver” design, a magnificent full-reclining position, and can support up to five hundred pounds. Overall, it’s definitely one of the best recliners for tall and big men in the high-end category.
While we’re at it, the “expensive” price point range features quite a few exceptional models, but this one tends to stick out more than most. Sadly, there aren’t any colour variations on the menu, but the remarkable “burgundy” is beautiful as it is. Personally, I liked it very much, although the lack of diversity with style options can be considered as a flaw.
Anyhow, let’s talk a bit about this “Wall-saver” design. Namely, it oddly resembles the “rocking chair” style, as it will allow you to move your chair forward as it reclines. It is intended to save up floor space, given that the Lane Stallion is quite massive in dimensions.
The seat back is extra-tall, as the manufacturer states, which is why I decided to include this model in the list. As I’ve mentioned before, it can support up to five hundred pounds, which is certainly more than enough. The last potential flaw is that you’ll need to do some minor assembly as it arrives – nevertheless, it holds quite a value for the cash.
- Outstanding comfortability.
- Convenient Wall-saver design intended to save up as much floor space as possible
- Full-reclining position.
- Can extend to proportions of a regular king-size mattress.
- Extra-tall seat and back.
- Can support up to five hundred pounds.
- Available in only one colour.
- Costs quite a lot.
HomCom Massage Heated PU Leather 360 Degree Swivel Recliner Chair
The last recliner for tall and big men in this review comes from HomCom. It features premium-quality PU leather design and a 360-degree swivelling recline. What’s more, you’ll also get a remote controller, which significantly reduces the effort needed to use it.
As for the price, it belongs to the bottom bracket of the “medium” price point category, meaning that it costs neither too much or too little.
Apart from that, you’ll be able to choose from four colour variations, including black, brown, cream, and red.
There’s also a neat built-in heating function which will heat up the waist area once activated. This recliner is ideal for people who suffer from back pain and aches, but it’s also great for bigger and taller guys, as it features a huge seat.
The comfortability of this recliner is exemplary. It’s built from premium-quality PU leather, alas, at the cost of durability – we’ve already mentioned that leather is inferior to mesh, fabric, and microfiber. Anyhow, this is definitely one of the best cheaper variants of high-quality recliners.
- Available in four colour variations.
- Built-in heating.
- Vibrating functions.
- Selectable levels of reclining.
- Comes with a convenient remote controller.
- Decently affordable.
- No major flaws, apart from the leather construction (inferior to mesh and microfiber).
How to choose the best heavy duty recliner
Recliners for bigger and taller people should be two things – sturdy and roomy. Now, given your situation, a small recliner would both feel uncomfortable and incapable of supporting your weight. That means that you should consider the following things:
Durability
Depending on the material from which a recliner is made, there are two options – either it’s sturdy or flimsy. Personally, I prefer mesh and microfiber builds over leather, even though the latter looks better.
Don’t be afraid to try them out – recliners made from plain fabric materials might look old-fashioned, but they’re perfect for bigger and taller people, as they’re among the most durable materials.
Space
Simply put, you’ll need a roomy recliner if you consider yourself a larger type of person. There are special recliners that feature extra-wide seats, which will be perfect for you however you put it. The models I’ve handpicked all come with this feature, so don’t forget to check them out.
Supportive strength
Tightly connected to durability is the supportive strength of a recliner. The supportive strength represents how much a recliner can withstand before reaching the breaking point. A hint – always double up your own weight to determine the minimum (for instance, if you weigh 200 pounds, look for recliners that can support up to 400 pounds).
Conclusion
Before you venture on your search for the best recliner for big and tall man, make sure to check out the “buying guide” section. I used the criteria mentioned therein to determine which models are the best of the best, and the “reviews” section states them respectively. I can guarantee that you’ll be satisfied with whichever model you pick, and I wish you good luck with your search!
