Introduction – a foreword about back pain & how can recliners help you?
Generally, it’s safe to say that there’s only a handful of things that can rid you of your back pain for good – proper posture, frequent walks, a healthy diet, and similar long-term improvements in your everyday life.
However, I’m also aware that not all of us have the luxury of time – some people work day and night, hence they’re not as free to take a stroll whenever they wish.
That’s the reason which has made me compile this review, for I’m suffering from it myself. The recliners you’re about to see helped me greatly – their outstanding support has made the pain more tolerable while the exquisite features (like massagers, and such) made me forget about it entirely. Without going into details (that’s what buying section is for, make sure to check it out), let’s jump to reviews straight away:

Top Rated Recliner for Lower Back Pain Reviews
Mac Motion Oslo Collection Recliner
The first recliner for lower back pain I’m going to review comes from Oslo Collection. These guys made a bunch of premium-quality recliners, and I highly advise that you check some of their models out, such as Vinci Office 914 and the entire Mac Motion series.
After doing so, you might want to see what I’ll have to say about one of their best recliners for the lower back pain in the aforementioned Mac Motion series.
This model is certainly not cheap, but it’s worth every single cent, of that I can assure you. It comes in two beautiful colour variations, it features excellent back and lumbar support, and it’s remarkably well-made altogether.
First of all, let’s talk about the colour variations. The one we’re looking at here is the “Cobblestone”. It’s somewhere between cream and yellow, and it’s exquisitely beautiful, objectively speaking. Now, I liked Merlot even more – this one resembles a peculiar mixture of burgundy and plain red.
The recliner features a fully swivelling design that will allow you to easily move from one side to another, which means that you won’t have to worry about mobility whatsoever.
On the other hand, the brand boasts about their products providing “exquisite lumbar support”. I agree with them completely, as you’ll hardly ever be in the situation of sitting in a more comfortable recliner, guaranteed.
The recliner looks extravagant, and that’s such an understatement, but I’m completely at a loss for words that would describe its beauty. The quality grain leather can easily match any and all furniture pieces in your home, regardless of the style and texture, but it’s quite durable nonetheless.
Lastly, this recliner comes with a completely separate Ottoman detail which is slightly angled, allowing you to experience an unprecedented level of comfort. There is a neat little footrest as well which only boosts the tremendous amount of comfort you’ll be able to benefit from.
Sadly, the only bad thing about this recliner is that it costs nearly a fortune. Be it as it may, it’s definitely worth the cash.
- One of the most beautiful recliners ever made.
- Remarkable lumbar support and footrest.
- Separate Ottoman feature.
- Available in two colours.
- Unprecedented level of comfortability.
- Costs a fortune.
Space-Saving Zero-Gravity L-track Full-Body Kahuna Massage Chair Recliner
Kahuna’s LM6800 received quite a lot of praise among recliner enthusiasts, and for a good reason too. Namely, this is one of those massaging chairs you’ll see in movies, massage spas, and such.
It features a “space-saving” design, it comes outfitted with a plethora of convenient features, and it works like a charm for people who suffer from back issues. In fact, it might just be the best recliner for lower back pain.
Since it looks a bit sci-fi when compared to regular recliners, the manufacturer felt like you’d need an instruction manual to understand most of the features. Even though the recliner itself operates by a complex method, the user’s guide was written in a plain, straightforward tone. You won’t have to put yourself through much trouble before you figure out what goes where.
There are six auto programs for you to enjoy – most of them are different variations of massaging and heat treatments, but three of them are “zero gravity” modes. These special settings will allow you to enjoy your pain relieving sessions in comfort, and that’s putting it mildly.
Apart from the convenient massaging modes, you’ll also be able to use the auto-timer. It can be set to any countdown point up to thirty minutes. This feature is one of the most important ones, if I might add, as prolonged exposures to heat emissions can be harmful to your health.
Speaking of comfort, this remarkable recliner comes outfitted with dual-layer shoulder airbags. This feature resembles a traditional headrest, only it’s improved.
The regular footrest has also been upgraded to a “dual-footrest” feature, which means that there are two points at which you can rest your legs (depending on the desired height).
Now, the reason why I have characterized this recliner as “futuristic” is because it comes with the latest L-track massage technology. Your body will be thoroughly scanned so as to determine the size, which will provide the built-in software with needed information for the best individual massaging possible.
One of the six aforementioned modes includes the “Yoga stretching” mode. This mode will simulate the stretching your body would’ve undergone as if you were practicing yoga instead of sitting in this recliner – a neat mode, but I’m personally not too fond of such new-school stuff.
Lastly, the space-saver design is exactly what you think it is. This recliner was meant to be as compact as possible, saving floor space in turn.
There are certain things I didn’t like about it, though. First of all, the massages can’t be set above 15 minutes, even though the countdown timer reads “thirty minutes”. I guess you’ll be able to shift through multiple modes to achieve prolonged massages, but I’ve failed to understand how it should be done.
That leads me to the next potential flaw – this chair is quite hard to use. Namely, there’s a plethora of features, and even though the user’s manual is quite well written, some questions were left unanswered.
Lastly, this chair costs a lot, and again, that’s a major understatement. It costs nearly twice as much when compared to the previous model (which costs a fortune on its own), but I can guarantee that you’ll be completely satisfied with it, should you be prepared to pay top dollar, that is.
- Exceptionally versatile.
- Six massaging modes.
- 30 minutes countdown timer.
- Yoga stretching and heat massaging functions.
- Personalized individual massaging process.
- Remarkably comfortable.
- Compact “Space-saver” design.
- Not as plain to use as other models.
- Costs quite a lot.
- Massaging lasts only fifteen minutes.
Cozzia Dual Power ZG Recliner
Next up is Cozzia’s Dual Power ZG recliner. It’s more of a “power-seat” of sorts, as it comes supplied with some of the best features available to technology. It comes with an exemplary lumbar support, footrest, as well as an exquisite headrest, which is exactly why I’ve picked it for my review of the best recliner for lower back pain.
First of all, both the headrest and the footrest operate independently. They’re sticking out from the rest of the construction and, though they’re not adjustable, you’ll feel the difference as soon as you sink in this marvellous recliner.
The “Zero-gravity” can be toggled with a touch of a single button. Most people report they’re feeling as if they are floating in space when they use this feature, and I must say I agree. The experience is exquisite, to say the least, and I highly recommend this recliner, regardless of your back pain.
Speaking of which, you can use the vibration massage function to mend, and even wick away the pain, at least for a while. If you happen to supper from severe chronic back pain, heat therapy is also included.
The base of Cozzia’s recliner for lower back pain features solid beechwood materials. A sturdy recliner is a good recliner in my book, and this one doesn’t fall short on that matter.
Lastly, you’ll be able to choose between three colour variations. The elegant black colour fits perfectly into any kind of environment, but so does the ivory leather, given that both of these colour options are neutral, in a sense.
Lastly, I’d highly recommend chocolate option for people who don’t like to stick with the extremes. It’s as beautiful as the other two, and it looks quite unordinary when compared to them.
Evaluating the performance of this recliner for lower back pain was practically a piece of cake – the simplified method of operation plus the awesome features are bound to give for a superb value rating. However, there are some things I didn’t like as much.
First of all, even though this model features excellent supports, the design isn’t ergonomic. This means that you’ll be able to fight your lower back pain, but you won’t feel as tucked away in comfort as you would in some other model I’ve mentioned so far.
On the other hand, this recliner is nowhere near Cahuna’s recliner in terms of versatility. It just happens that I like the chairs that cost as much as this one when they provide the quality in accordance to the cost. However, these two minor flaws are the only ones I’ve found, and I’d still say that this recliner features an amazing value for the buck.
- Excellent lumbar, head, and foot support.
- Exceptional value for the cash.
- Decently comfortable.
- Massaging and heat therapy modes.
- Sturdy, robust construction.
- Costs quite a lot.
- The design isn’t ergonomic.
Electric Full Body Shiatsu Massage Chair Recliner
BestMassage is the name of the brand that’s responsible for this awesome recliner for lower back pain. Even though this model might not be the most beautiful one you’ll ever see, it features a massive value for the cash, as you’re about to see.
First of all, this recliner will allow you to heavily improve the flexibility and mobility of your legs. There’s no conventional footrest, but the foot supports are, perhaps, even better in comparison. Your legs will be neatly cushioned as if trapped by comfortable airbags from all sides.
On the other hand, there’s a built-in heat treatment system which is accessible via adjustable settings panel. The armrests are doubly reinforced for maximal comfort, and, personally, I’ve never felt as good as I did when I used this model.
This recliner was designed to conform and contour to the shape of the user’s back. There are thirty airbags in the construction of this recliner, all of which provide an exemplary level of comfortability.
As I already mentioned, the only thing I didn’t exactly like about this recliner is that it doesn’t look as good as the ones we’ve seen so far. It’s literally a sort of a recliner you’d see in a professional massaging centre. However, that’s not such a surprise, given that it comes from the brand that primarily makes massaging chairs.
Overall, the value of this recliner is exceptional, to say the least. It’s not overly expensive, it’s superbly comfortable, and, on top of all, it’s very easy to use.
- Huge value for the cash.
- Decently affordable.
- Superb level of comfort.
- Unprecedented quality of back, leg, neck, and head supports.
- Heat massaging and therapy modes.
- Doesn’t particularly excel in aesthetics.
Relaxzen Leisure Recliner Chair
Relaxzen – now, this brand shows promise. Their Leisure recliner chair is the first model which belongs to the “budget” price point category, and I’ve picked it because it can compare to the top models in this review.
Generally, this is an old-fashioned recliner chair which features a portable footrest (not built-in, like most models come with), eight massage motors, a beautiful upholstery, and other outstanding qualities.
First of all, you’ll be able to get this model in three colour options. The black and brown are as plain and straightforward as can be, but there’s also the camouflage option for people who want something wilder.
Apart from that, the ComfortSoft™ upholstery looks awesome and feels very great. Apparently, the brand used high-quality leather during the construction process without pumping up the price unnecessarily – my guess is that they’re new and want to earn some credibility points before joining the big leagues.
Eight vibration motors were pre-built into the construction, all of which help you relax your upper and lower back, calves, thighs, and other vital spots. Choose between five intensity levels and nine pre-programmed vibration modes for the ultimate experience.
The only thing I disliked about this model is that it’s too plain. Honestly, only a handful of recliners I’ve seen come with a manually operated footrest. Be it as it may, I can still safely label it as one of the best recliners for lower back pain.
- Available in three colour options.
- Very affordable.
- ComfortSoft™ upholstery.
- Eight vibration modes, nine programmed modes, and five intensity levels.
- Swivelling and reclining functions.
- Heat treatment option.
- Looks way too plain.
Best Massage Full Body Shiatsu Massage Chair Recliner
The last recliner for lower back pain in this review also comes from the Best Massage (just as the previous model). This one, however, costs a few hundred dollars more – you’ll come to understand why soon enough.
Unlike the previous model, this one features only two colour options – black and brown. They look nearly identical, but a choice is still better than none.
You’ll get a convenient remote controller which governs the functions over the reclining positioning and massage modes. Also, you can expect to get a shiatsu-style heat treatment and massages with as much as a push of a button.
There’s no head support, and the armrests are quite ordinary. However, the footrests are awesome, and that’s putting it mildly. Overall, I really liked the price of this chair, even though the looks leave a lot to be desired. Anyhow, that doesn’t concern the issue of lower back pain whatsoever, so it’s safe to say that this chair is more than valuable for the cash.
- Extremely affordable.
- Comes in two colour options.
- Shiatsu-style massaging and heat therapy.
- Very comfortable.
- Outstanding footrests.
- Mediocre armrests.
- No lumbar support.
Benefits of Using Recliner for the People with Lower Back Pain
One of the most obvious benefits you can hope of taking advantage off is the actual help with your problems with lower back pain. Namely, these recliners were specifically made and constructed to gently support your lower back, reducing, and even eliminating the pain along the way.
What’s more, these recliners are quite versatile in nature. They’re not only meant to provide you with pain relief – there’re plenty of other benefits.
First of all, regardless of the model, these recliners were intentionally made to last for quite a while. This, of course, means that they feature an increased level of durability. It’s easy to see why that is so – people who suffer from lower back pain are susceptible to all forms of further damage.
That was the motivation of every manufacturer to make their chairs as safe as possible for people who suffer from chronic back pain.
On the other hand, buying a recliner for lower back pain costs less than undergoing expensive treatments. Further on that note, you’ll be able to treat your back pain at home, whereas you’d have to trouble yourself with going to specific spa centres otherwise.
Things to Consider Before Buying a Recliner
Two things are to be considered above others when you’re looking for a recliner for lower back pain. First of all, it needs to have adequate supports. Secondly, it needs to feel as comfortable as possible.
Now, by saying adequate supports, I mean great lumbar, head, feet, and neck supports. Certain models don’t feature pronounced supports, but they can still be comfortable enough to earn their stay in the reviews of the best recliners for lower back pain.
Make sure to pick the model that was made of sturdy, yet comfy material. Such are mesh, leather, and microfiber. Personally, I’d avoid leather if you weigh above the average standard, as it tends to crack and wear more than other materials, but if you’re a slim, or average-sized person, any of the aforementioned will do.
Lastly, in order to determine the overall value of a recliner, you should look at the bigger picture. If all of the aforementioned qualities are present, you might just have found the best recliner for lower back pain. Let’s see the details about things you need to consider before purchasing your first recliner for lower back pain.
Supports – the most important feature every recliner needs to have
As I’ve previously mentioned, the supports are what make a recliner good for people with lower back pain. These features are the ones doing the job – by providing a good support to your back, they help relieve the pain you feel.
You’ll be able to spot a recliner with good supports quite easily. Namely, these features are often very pronounced. A headrest sticks out from the rest of the construction, the lumbar support as well, while nearly all models come with foot and headrest features.
Comfort – you’ll be spending some time in your recliner, might as well get yourself comfortable
The comfortability of a certain recliner model is determined by its ability to make you feel good while you’re using it. Gentler, tender materials used in the construction process of each good recliner provide the high level of comfortability.
For instance, most recliners for lower back pain are made of a special form of leather. Whether it’s LetherSoft (combination of leather and polyurethane), mixture of fabric and leather, or simply reinforced leather, you can rest assured that you’ll feel comfortable in these recliners.
Durability – flimsy recliners aren’t safe to use
The importance of durability can easily be expressed with a famous saying – “Safety first”. Basically, flimsy recliners tend to break down faster than average ones, and you can easily imagine the pain you’d be going through if you happened to fall out from your recliner once it gets broken or damaged.
That’s the reason why choosing a durable recliner for lower back pain is imperative. You shouldn’t, or better yet, couldn’t settle down for less – the market of recliners for lower back pain is vast, and finding a good model isn’t all that hard. Moreover, you can always take a gander at my top picks of the best recliners for lower back pain and simply choose the one you feel is the best.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for the best recliner for lower back pain, feel free to check out the reviews of the models I’ve handpicked for you in the sections above.
Every model features a huge value for the cash – I’ve intentionally added models throughout all price point categories, but even if we’re to neglect the fact that they feature different costs, each model is exceptionally great for people who suffer from back pain. I hope you’ll find the recliner that best suits your liking, and I wish you all the luck.
